Opinions from the experts (YOU!)

Assuming all goes well with our home purchase, we will need to replace all the flooring on the main floor (entryway, living room, kitchen and dining) at some point in the future (who knows when that will be). Since many of you have owned homes I wanted your opinion on engineered wood floors and laminates (we can't afford hardwoods). The bottom two links show the two I'm thinking of. Tell me what you like, dislike with materials, install, color, wear, etc. The engineered wood would probably cost us around $500 more for the area we need to cover. Is it worth the money? Is it a better option or worse option for high traffic areas, especially in a kitchen where there will be water. Thoughts please!

We put down laminate in our living room almost 2 years ago and I LOVE it. Check out this link for pics http://mikeandhannah.blogspot.com/2010/07/living-room-renewed.html It cleans up really easy and its a medium to lighter color so even if I haven't swept for a few days, it still looks great. Plus it was really affordable and easy to install. I don't know if I would want it in my kitchen though (I have tile and think that is the best in kitchen), because you have to be pretty careful with water or it swells and gets ruined. My sister in law had a dark engineered floor and her gripes were that the texture in the surface was just a magnet that stuff got stuck in an it was really hard to clean. She also had a dark wood, and it was beautiful, but showed every little thing.

The links that you included were really helpful. It looks beautiful. Have you talked to Marie? She has some experience with this type of flooring.
